Time lapse photography of a seed germinating

Some questions for thinking:

  • Which part of the plant grew first? Why do you think it is important for that part to grow first?
  • Living things need air, food and water to grow.  A seed does not have leaves, so it cannot make its own food.  Where does the food come from?

The roots of the plants grow first, and it always follows the pull of gravity.  The seed will sprout upwards towards the light source.  That is why we don’t have to worry how we plant the seed–it will always manage to grow in the right direction.

what kind of plant is filled with air spaces?

    what is its dispersal method???

and what kind of plant has hooks??

    what is the dispersal method???

please comment in this post… thanks!

    • Owen > Here are some examples of the different plants that disperse their seeds in the various methods:

Plants with fruits filled with air spaces are dispersed by water, e.g. coconut, pong pong, mangrove, sea almond.

By animals: two methods – (1) edible fruits with fleshy coverings and (2) by hooks
      E.g. for:
      (1) Any flowering plant that grows fleshy fruits, e.g. rambutan, mango, durian, fig, etc.
      (2) love grass

Don’t confuse this with the pollination methods!
